About us

The Bushel and Strike, country pub and eating house was originally built in 1854 as a brewery in the picturesque village of Ashwell, north Hertfordshire. A few years down the line and the “Bushel” as it is affectionately known locally is a haven for those seeking great food, well-kept cask ales, fine wines and a genuine warm welcome.

Having taken on the running of the pub in November 2014 Lucy Thompson and Martin Nisbet have brought with them over 40 years’ experience in the hospitality, events and restaurant industry.
